Dream Teaching Job: My dream teaching job is to teach second grade!
Why did you join KDP? KDP because teaching is my absolute passion, and I was excited to find a club devoted to my passion. Everyone finds their home within JMU and KDP was definitely my home!
Why do you want to be a teacher? I want to be a teacher because I want to change the world. Teaching has been my dream job since I was five years old. I have a passion for working with and advocating for children. I think teaching is such a rewarding and fulfilling profession, and I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else!
Favorite Teaching Book: My first and second grade teacher had the entire set of the Junie B. Jones books, and since then I have always said I am going to have all the Junie B. Jones books in my classroom. Another picture book series I love is Pete the Cat books. They are so silly, fun, and musical, and children love them!
Favorite Teaching Website/Resource: Like most other teachers/ future teachers, my favorite resource is Pinterest. There are so many unique and creative ideas!
Favorite JMU Class You’ve Taken: My favorite course I have taken at JMU is Gender and Leadership Studies. I was able to reflect on myself as a leader while also learning about different leadership styles and skills.
Best piece of classroom advice/wisdom you’ve received: I think the best piece of advice I have received is to get to know every student personally. I have used this in every internship and it has helped me see each student individually and find ways to reach every student in the classroom.
Favorite KDP Event: My favorite KDP event is the Teacher’s Conference. Somehow it gets more influential and amazing each year.
